RoboCop 3 is based on the 1993 Science fiction film by the same title. It features 3-Dimensional game play which I remember being 'high-tech' at the time of its creation. It follows the style of having ‘sub’ or mini-games within the game in its entirety. The most prominent feature that stands out in my mind is the car chase. The car chase takes place in a vast 3D world of streets and buildings. You chase a number of thugs on motorcycles through the city and shoot at them.

The car chase takes place in a vast 3D world of streets and buildings. You chase a number of thugs on motorcycles through the city and shoot at them. At certain parts of the game you were also given the chance to repair Robocop after he had been damaged. This involved moving pieces around until all his internal components were connected.
RoboCop 3 was released on
NES, Amiga, PC and Atari ST. The NES edition of RoboCop 3 differed from the PC version. It is a traditonal single-player, side-scrolling game with a storyline and background that loosely follows the film. A unique, memorable feature is the fact that each of RoboCop's body parts has a separate damage rating. Heavily damaged parts can result in "malfunctions," such as erratic firing (if the arm holding the weapon is damaged) or difficulty walking (if legs are damaged). The player has the opportunity to repair RoboCop's parts between levels. This NES version was scrutinized for having extremely difficult gameplay.
The shooting sub section of RoboCop 3 is very enjoyable to play and reminded me of Wolfenstein or Doom, with Robocop walking round alleyways and corridors, aiming his gun at the thugs. The gun is aimed by moving vertical and horizontal bars, pointing the central crosshair and pressing the mouse button. One shot will take anyone down, including innocent civilians, so you have to be careful with your aiming. I recall this part of the game also being fairly hard. The characters are mostly seen as silhouettes, but their shape lets you know if it’s a thug or an innocent civilian.
The final section of the game RoboCop 3 that I remember is the ‘Jet-Pack’ section. The jet-pack section is a lot like the car chase section. These two sections are rated highly by myself. However a let down is that the controls of the jet-pack are some what complicated, and it is extremely easy to die. However if you persist you should master the art soon enough. Once again, in the jet-pack section you simply chase motorbike riding thugs around the city, but be careful not to crash into buildings this time.
