Game Review (written by Hawkis01) Added on: 06/17/2008
One of the first games I got for the Amiga was Menace. It has to be one of my all time favourites and probably the only game I completed without cheating. The graphics for the day were superb and the gameplay out of this world with lots of extras to collect to destroy the strange monsters or robotic space things you run into towards the end levels.
I can still remember the joy of defeating the first boss at the end, which if memory serves was some strange create with a big eye that shot eyes at you.

I do remember well is at the end of the game after defeating the final boss he blows up with multiple explosions then your craft fly’s off into space. I still recall the relief after destroying him. I never was one for Space Invaders as I thought it was quite dull with a ship that just goes from side to side blasting things falling on you. I believe Menace was the next generation of Space Invader games with loads of stuff to collect such as shields and upgradeable weapons.
I also think that the monsters you needed to destroy we’re cool and every world or level had something new to give and challenge you with. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to play on this game since my Amiga was stolen, but it was just one of those games that I always remembered as being one of the best I’ve played and I know from asking others that I’m not the only one. This was the game that started me off with playing games on the computer.

Menace, a typical Amiga-style horizontal shoot-'em-up game, was ported to the PC. It's the average action game with really nice graphics (the PC version actually has better graphics than the Amiga version) but somewhat boring gameplay.
